Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
About Concrete Patios

I need a concrete patio contractor near me, is that you?

Yes. We are an experienced patio installer and we love to pour new patios, porches, decks and more. If you’re considering adding to your landscaping with hardscape surfaces, give us a call to get a quote on stamped concrete before going with flatwork. There are lots of appealing surface designs that are much more appealing than the classic broom finish.

I would like to build a new concrete patio, can you help with that?

Yes. We are professional concrete contractors and have installed many patios, porches and decks. We know how to remove existing surfaces off property, prepare the site slope by grading, applying a proper subbase, constructing forms, pouring and finishing your new patio with whatever you want the final design to look like.

I want to know more about a concrete patio installation, is it worth the price?

Hardscaped surfaces can greatly increase the curb appeal of your landscaped areas. They also provide better access and ultimately enjoyment. Property improvements like patios and sidewalks will likely increase your property value if they are pleasing to the eye and properly installed, which is why you should always hire an experienced contractor.

How is hardscaping different from landscaping?

Landscaping refers to the living surfaces that make up your property like grasses, trees, mulching and garden areas. Hardscaping refers to most everything else including the paths, patios, porches, decks and sidewalks that are made from non-living materials like concrete, stone, brick, tile or crushed aggregate.

Are you a stamped concrete patio contractor?

Yes. We not only install flatwork patios but can install the stamped designs that are becoming more popular. Decorative stamping must be applied immediately after pouring the concrete that is delivered from local ready-mix plants. It takes experience and skill to make the stamped finishes look as real as real stone, brickwork or wood.

What are some textures that you can stamp onto concrete patios? What other finishes?

Some of the most popular stamped patterns are ones that look just like real tile, stonework, pavers, rocks, laid bricks and wooden deck planks. Alternative finishes are exposed aggregate, staining, painting and the classic broom finish. If you don’t already have a design picked out, we’d love to help with your selection. We can show you what designs are available and what we have the best results with during your site evaluation.

Can I pour concrete over my existing patio to add stamping?

Maybe.  The existing surface must be free of all defects like heaving or cracks, or else they will transfer to the new concrete and you’ll have to replace the whole thing sooner than planned. We would need to inspect the factors that determine whether or not you can add at least an extra 2” to your existing surface, which could affect things like drainage or door swings.

What is the difference between a patio and a porch?

The terms really are interchangeable. Most people refer to their backyard surface as a patio and the front surface as the porch. Side surfaces are referred to as aprons or verandas if covered. Steps leading to an entrance are stoops and decks are elevated or surrounding pool areas. Basically, they’re all a sort of patio but specific terms make it easy to identify exact architectural elements among the trades.

I’d like to put hardscaping around my pool, can you install concrete pool decks?

Yes. We can install concrete pool areas and pool decks. We are able to stamp them with popular designs, which are usually patterned stone, tile, brick, rock and wood. The wooden stamp design is particularly popular for pool deck areas because it resembles timber decking but has a much longer lifespan.

How much do concrete patios cost? What is the price?

Every patio installation is unique and so we really need to perform a site evaluation so we can get eyes on your location. Factors like site access, slope and grading requirements, subbase needs, measurements and surrounding features will all affect your final price.
