Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
About Concrete Driveways

I have an existing driveway, can you remove and replace my driveway?

Yes. We can remove and replace your drive. This involves breaking up and removing the existing surface, adding back subbase and grading if required, setting new forms and pouring the new surface. After the pour, we would apply whatever your desired finish is, whether it’s a stamped design, staining or a simple broom finish. There is also the option to resurface your existing driveway with a concrete overlay.

What is the price for driveway replacement? How much does a new driveway cost?

Every removal or installation is unique and so every price is different. This is based on the access to the area, the size of your existing surface to be removed and new surface planned, permit and grading requirements, amount of subbase materials required and whatever your finishing option might be.

Can you install a circle driveway? What about a half-circle drive?

Yes. We install circle drives. Circle drives increase your access by removing the requirement of backing up to exit your drive. This is not only more convenient, but safer as well. By adding a loop to your front dive you can also fit more cars when parking might be a tight fit. This also gives the opportunity for a feature in the middle area.

I need a residential concrete driveway contractor near me, do you do that?

Yes. We specialize in residential concrete installation. This means we can pour driveways, carports, extensions and additions. We can also install new gutters, curbs and sidewalks to accommodate your new parking area. As long as you’re in our service area, we can bid your project after a free site evaluation.

My driveway is too narrow for my car, can you add a driveway extension?

Yes. We can widen your existing parking area or carport by adding material on either or both sides to any dimension required. Adding an extension or addition is always a great opportunity to add a stamped design on either side so it creates a stamped outline or border without a full scale replacement.

I think I need a driveway repair contractor, can you do that?

Yes. We can take a look at your repair project no matter what size. There are many options when it comes to repairs, but the only way to create a flawless restoration that is unnoticeable and undetectable is to repour that section. There are options for re-levelling slabs that are out of level, but cracking requires replacement.

Can you install stamped concrete driveways?

Yes. We are able to install stamped driveways and carports that have surface designs and stains. This means we use stamps or molds to create surface patterns that resemble popular shapes like stone, rock, brick, tile and more. These stamped patterns are installed when the concrete is still wet and they harden as it cures.

When can I drive on a new concrete driveway?

This depends on the thickness of your new surface as well as the weight of your vehicle. It is recommended to wait 7 days before driving on any new concrete surface with standard passenger vehicles. You can walk on surfaces after 24 to 48 hours, but during the first 24 hours you must keep all traffic off the surface.

I need a carport extension, can you pour a concrete slab for a carport?

Yes. We can pour slabs for carports, garages or metal buildings. Carports are generally described as covered parking areas. Garages would be defined as enclosed parking areas and driveways as open parking areas. No matter what your parking needs are, we can pour a slab that will accommodate your vehicles.

Can you pour a driveway on a slope or incline?

Yes. We can install them on slopes but it does create special challenges. It is always recommended not to have a slope greater than 20%, but sometimes this isn’t possible.

Gradients over 20% are considered “severely steep” and are best to avoid. There are options for properties that have steep slopes, just give us a call.

I need concrete curb and gutter installation, can you do that?

Yes. We can perform curb and gutter installations. We are able to accommodate most concrete features accompanying installations, such as curbs, gutters and sidewalks. If your addition requires altering an existing curb or gutter, we can also remove them or make alterations to accommodate your new driveway design.

Can I pour new concrete over an existing driveway?

Maybe. Any faults in the existing slab will transfer to whatever is poured over it. This means that if the existing slab is cracked or heaved up or not level, those imperfections will carry over to the new slab. Also, new concrete does not bond to existing concrete so even if you pour at least 2” there is a good chance of cracking and having to replace it sooner than expected.

Can I add stamped designs to an existing concrete surface?

Maybe. Stamps and patterns can only be applied right after the concrete is poured and while it is still wet. For existing flatwork, this would involve pouring at least 2” over your existing surface and stamping it while wet. This can be problematic because the strength of this new layer is only as durable as the existing slab it was poured over.
